24hrs in the 'all round' city? Start with smoothies, end with 'pharmacy' cocktails, and squeeze in a castle, Picasso and a riot of history, shopping and tapas en route. 

You'll need to be agile and selective but spectactular views, hiking, glaciers and Malbec are all within reach in this one-week itinerary to my favourite spots. 

Just one day in Penang?  Shame, shame *rings bell*. Oh well,  hunt down hidden street art, refuel with char kway teow and the best laksa of your life. Colonial charm, chaos, and chili, with a garnish of tropical heat.

Much more than a stop-off between Queenstown and Christchurch.  Hike Roy’s Peak at dawn for views that belong on a postcard, then paddle across the lake like you own it.
